A Month on From Bushfire, New South Wales Coast Battles Flooding After Torrential Rain

Only a month after the Batemans Bay Fire tore through, destroying several properties, locals and holidaymakers in the New South Wales hamlet of Nelligen were dealing with a problem of an entirely different kind: flooding.

Days of heavy rain and high seas along the NSW South Coast have brought flooding and forced evacuations since February 7.

More than 300 mm of rain was measured in nearby Araluen by February 10, local government statistics said, leading to road closures.
