The girlfriend of a 26-year-old man shot dead during August 25 protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, broke down the following evening as she praised his actions near the scene of the shooting.

Anthony Huber was identified by local news outlets as one of two people fatally shot late on Tuesday night.

This footage, recorded by Brendan Gutenschwager, shows Huber’s girlfriend, Hannah Gittings, tell a group of people that Huber “took down an armed gunman with nothing but his skateboard.”

“Anthony Huber was one of the most amazing people to ever walk this earth,” she said. “He had nothing but love in his heart for this city and that’s why we were out here last night.”

Gittings spoke on Sheridan Road, where two people were shot after pursuing a man with a gun moments after another man was fatally shot nearby. A 17-year-old suspect, Kyle Rittenhouse, was arrested in connection with the shootings.

Two GoFundMe appeals have been set up to raise money for Huber’s family and girlfriend. One said Huber was killed while “defending a cause he firmly believed in.” Another, set up for Gittings, says, “While peacefully protesting Anthony selflessly tried to aid in taking down an attacker when he was gunned down.” Credit: Brendan Gutenschwager via Storyful
