Washington Wildfire Explodes in Size, Forcing Evacuations

Fire officials said the Nakia Creek Fire, burning near Larch Mountain, in southwest Washington, had grown to about 2,000 acres on Sunday, October 17, with 5 percent containment.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Office said the fire had broken through containment lines.

The Clark Regional Emergency Services Agency said 2,903 homes were under a “go now” evacuation notice. Another 28,765 were under a “be ready” notice. Credit: Fire District 3 via Storyful
