Wildfire Alert Cameras Captures Ignition and Spread of Maria Fire

Wildfire alert cameras captured the moment that the Maria Fire ignited in the mountains above Santa Paula, California, and began to spread on Thursday evening, October 31.

The fire grew to about 5,000 acres overnight, the Ventura County Fire Department said. The fire was spread by eastern winds and remained completely uncontained, with more than 400 firefighters responding the blaze, authorities said.

The Ventura County Sheriff said that 1,800 structures were threatened by the fire and 7,500 people were under evacuation orders. About 100 deputies and volunteers were assisting in evacuations, he said. Credit: ALERTWildfire via Storyful
