A wildlife sanctuary in Port Stephens, New South Wales, shared the moment a koala was released back into the wild after being rescued and treated for a severe chlamydia infection.

Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary wrote in a Facebook post that the koala, called Daisy, was found in September 2020 by a local resident who noticed both of her eyes were infected.

Following eight months of rehabilitation and care at the animal sanctuary, Daisy was reunited with her rescuer, named only as Suzie. The footage features the local woman as she helped safely return the koala to her natural surroundings alongside a member of the Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary team.
