'No Filter': Sahara Dust Storm Brings Orange Tint to Spanish Skies

2 年前

Skies were tinted orange in Alicante, Spain, on March 14, as Storm Celia brought dust from the Sahara desert into the Spanish air.

Footage recorded and posted to Twitter by Ruben Ortega shows the sky in Santa Pola, in Spain’s Alicante province, colored orange on Monday afternoon. “No filter,” he wrote in the caption.

The Laboratorio de Climatologia at the University of Alicante, who were tracking Storm Celia, said on March 13 that it would move over the southeastern Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Islands between Monday and Thursday. As the dust moved in on Monday, the University warned against staying outside for long periods of time and recommended the use of FFP2 masks for those with respiratory diseases.
