An orphaned kangaroo who was rescued in the aftermath of Australia’s devastating Black Summer bushfires enjoyed playing with a plush toy at Kangala Wildlife Rescue in South Australia.

This video uploaded to Facebook shows the roo named GG playfully wrestling with a seahorse toy that has been suspended from a tree branch.

According to Kangala’s website, GG, which is short for Gentle Giant, was the “most injured kangaroo joey on Kangaroo Island that survived” after the bushfires. “He was the last joey we rescued and at the time had been alone and starving for up to 6 weeks,” according to the animal sanctuary’s website.

GG had “severe burns to his feet, paws, and tail” which were healing slowly since January 2020 with treatment. Credit: Kangala Wildlife Rescue via Storyful
