Washington Road Flooded as Skagit River Swells After Heavy Rainfall

Heavy rain across parts of Washington caused heavy flooding in Mount Vernon on November 16.

This footage, filmed by John Manso shows a road near the Skagit River inundated by floodwaters.

According to data from the National Weather Service (NWS) the Skagit River’s crest was 36.79 feet on November 16 at approximately 8:30 am. The highest crest ever recorded was 37.37 feet on Nov. 25, 1990.

A flash flood watch was canceled by the NWS for a nearby area in Mount Vernon, after earlier forcing some residents to evacuate due to a potential levee failure. Credit: John Manso via Storyful
