Fire Threatening Homes Outside Canberra Captured in Timelapse

The Australian Capital Territory Emergency Services Agency issued a warning for areas in and around Tharwa on Tuesday, January 28, as the Orroral Valley bushfire approached the village.

“The fire may pose a threat to all lives directly in its path,” said the agency in a Facebook post. “People in these suburbs are in danger and need to seek immediate shelter as the fire approaches.”

Aerial video released on Monday showed the fire burning as helicopters and airplanes waterbombed the area. The fire had burned 7,912 hectares by 9 pm on Monday, according to authorities.
