Heavy rain and wind hit the northern Jamaican coast as Hurricane Beryl approached the region on Wednesday, July 3.

Footage filmed and posted to X by Broc Walker shows stormy conditions such as heavy rain and wind gusts in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, on Wednesday. According to the Met Office, the eye of the hurricane was located just offshore on Wednesday afternoon, with the strongest winds on the north side of the eye hitting Jamaica’s south coast.

An evacuation order was in effect on Wednesday for areas prone to floods or landslides, or near sea level, gullies, or waterways, Prime Minister Andrew Holness announced on Wednesday. Credit: Broc Walker via Storyful
