Hurricane Hone Winds Damage Tent Carport in Hawaii County

Flash flood warnings and wind advisories remained in effect as Hurricane Hone “gradually” moved away from Hawaii’s Big Island on Sunday, August 25, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said.

According to the NHC, the center of the storm was located about 100 mi southwest of Kailua-Kona as of 11 am local time on Sunday morning, moving west-northwest away from the Big Island.

The NHC said Hone was forecast to bring an additional 3 to 5 in of rainfall to the Big Island on Sunday, and 1 to 3 inches of rain on the smaller islands.
