Incredible aerial footage shows how close wildfires came to the defunct nuclear power plant in Chernobyl, Ukraine. Hundreds of firefighters managed to extinguish the flames after 10 days; they were helped by rainfall in recent days. Before being stopped, forest fires burned over 3,000 hectares in a week, raging through the 30km exclusion zone around the power station. One of the fires was burning at a distance of just 1.5km (less than one mile) from the shelter covering the damaged reactor at the nuclear site.
