Amid audible gasps, former prime minister Sir John Major tells an inquiry that thousands of victims of the infected blood scandal suffered "incredibly bad luck". The infection of up to 30,000 people with HIV or Hepatitis C from contaminated blood has been called the biggest treatment disaster in the history of the NHS.
