Boris Johnson says that the number of people sleeping rough in England is "way too high." Official figures released on Thursday showed that that 4,266 people were sleeping rough on a single night in autumn 2019, 411 fewer than the previous year. However, the total is still 2,498 higher than when the figures were first introduced in 2010 - an increase of 141%. The prime minister was speaking on a visit to The Connection at St Martin's, a homelessness charity in central London.
