Lightning Flashes in Northern Illinois as Tornado Warning Issued For Second Day in a Row

Lightning flashed over Geneva, Illinois, as the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a tornado warning for the area for the second day in a row on Monday, July 15.

This footage was captured by Matt Rodewald, who said that he had “lived in this town for nearly 40 years” and he had “never heard the tornado sirens go off two days in a row.”

The NWS said that “destructive storms” which could produce “winds in excess of 75 mph, tornadoes, and flash flooding” would track across north-east Illinois on Monday evening. Credit: Matt Rodewald via Storyful
