Man Encounters Alligator on Evening Walk in South Carolina

A man had a close-up encounter with an alligator while on an evening walk in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, on Tuesday, September 26.

Footage taken by Austin Bond shows the alligator slowly walking across the sidewalk before slithering into the water at Huntington Beach State Park.

“As I was walking, I noticed an alligator with its mouth wide open yawning for a long time”, Bond told Storyful. “As I walked closer, he crossed the sidewalk to the other pond,” he added.

According to the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources alligators generally are active year-round in the state, most commonly during warmer weather. Credit: Austin Bond via Storyful
