Amusement park visitor spots crack in coaster

STORY: In a statement released to the media, Carowinds said the Fury 325 ride had closed "after park personnel became aware of a crack at the top of a steel support pillar." The statement added that all rides at the park "undergo daily inspections to ensure their proper functioning and structural integrity."

The video, taken by Jeremy Wagner, shows a diagonal crack in the steel pillar, which momentarily moves out of place as cars move by at high speed. Media reports said Wagner had informed park officials after taking the video and had also called the local fire department.

Fury 325 is named for its maximum track height of 325 feet. The coaster reaches speeds of up to 95 mph, according to the park's website. Carowinds said the ride will remain closed until repairs have been completed.
