Smoke and Ash Force Super Fog Alert in North Carolina

Smoke and ash from the Pulp Road Fire created hazardous driving conditions across parts of Brunswick County, North Carolina, on Sunday, June 18, authorities said.

Video released by North Carolina Fire Service (NCFS) on Saturday shows large plumes of smoke billowing from the wildfire. The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality issued a Red Alert air quality warning to Brunswick County on Sunday.

NCFS also issued a Super Fog Alert for motorists traveling in the region, with the fire forcing temporary closure of Highway 211.
