STORY: Somalia’s capital opened its

first horse riding stable in decades

Yahye Isse opened his stable to

offer free riding lessons to the public

and eventually host competitions

with riders from other regions

RIDING INSTRUCTOR, YAHYE ISSE, SAYING:

"In the past Somalia was famous for horses. Traditionally Somalis love horses. We are now training youth so that in the near future we can get Somali teenagers who can participate in horse racing competitions."

Demand for sports and leisure

activities is increasing here

and horse-riding has proved a hit

"’This is very interesting; I am very happy to watch this. I encourage them to keep up the horse racing and I thank him for training the youth and entertaining the parents."

RIDING INSTRUCTOR, YAHYE ISSE, SAYING:

"Our vision is to participate in international horse racing and in big international races such as the Arab cup and Japan cup. We hope we shall get that chance though missing is the role of a government ministry of sports and youth.”
