Archaeologists discover four Aztec child burials

STORY: Location: Mexico City

Mexican archaeologists have discovered four child burials

in what is believed to have been a traditional Aztec home

dating between 1521 and 1620, during the country's early colonial period

According to the archaeologist Juan Carlos Campos who is leading the excavation

the indigenous people who lived in this area faced harsh living conditions

after the Spanish conquistadors took over Mexico-Tenochtitlan

The four children were buried in a traditional pre-Hispanic way

and seem to have died of natural causes
