Thousand drones light up sky over WW2 monument in Russia

A thousand drones lit up the sky over the Russian city of Rzhev on Friday (May 7) ahead of Russia's Victory Day commemorations of World War Two.

Glowing drones flew in formation to represent images related to WW2, ending the show with a giant dove of peace hovering above the spectators.

Russia commemorates Victory Day on May 9.

In 2020, the traditional May 9 parade was postponed to June due to the COVID-19 threat.

This year, the authorities have decided to conduct the parade on the usual day, but postpone the "Immortal regiment" - a traditional march where people walk with portraits of WW2 fighters - until June.
