Zoo Surprises Flamingo-Loving Austin Woman With Special Visit

San Antonio Zoo created a special moment for a terminally ill cancer patient who is a big fan of flamingos, with a surprise visit earlier this month to her home in Austin.

Peggy Garrison, 75, owns more than 150 flamingo-themed trinkets and decorations, a local news report said. Her day was made on July 1 when these were joined by a real-life flamingo from the zoo’s flock.

Garrison was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year, he daughter Amy said. Since then, she said, the family had been “thinking about things that she might enjoy”. Credit: San Antonio Zoo via Storyful
