Northern Spain turns white after heavy snowfall

STORY: The Basque Country region suffered low temperatures and hours of snow falling, which caused a winter scene.

Large areas in the north of the country will remain under orange snow and wind alert on Wednesday with gusts of wind expected to reach 61 kilometers per hour (37.9 miles).

Spain's national weather agency AEMET said on Wednesday that the effects of the storms could last until Friday.
