Turkey-Syria earthquake 'may take years to recover from'

STORY: A magnitude 7.8 quake - the deadliest in Turkey since 1999 - hit early on Monday (February 6) and was followed by a second hours later.

Rescuers have been struggling to dig people out of the rubble of collapsed buildings as the death toll passed 5,000.

Under Secretary for National Society Development and Operations Coordination, Xavier Catellanos Mosquera called on international governments to coordinate relief efforts with Turkish and Syrian authorities in order to have to most impact.
