The pilot of a firefighting plane died when it crashed in Montana’s Helena National Forest on July 10, local media reported, citing officials.

The plane was part of the response to the Horse Gulch Fire.

The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office issued an evacuation order for residents of areas near the fire on Wednesday.

The fire, which started on July 9, grew to more than 600 acres by July 10, forest officials said.
