"I thought I was going to die" - AOC at Capitol

Speaking on Instagram Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said "I had a very close encounter where I thought I was going to die," adding that she could not provide details because of security concerns. "I did not know if I was going to make it to the end of that day alive."

The deadly riot at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. forced lawmakers to flee the inner chambers of the building, after Trump called on thousands of supporters to march on Congress in a bid to stop the final certification of Biden's election victory.

AOC also blasted Republicans for voting to stall the certification process and for instigating the crowd on January 6, saying that they cared more for their lust for power than they cared about democracy.
