STORY: Microsoft could soon finally secure the biggest deal in gaming history.

Tech news site The Verge has reported the U.S. firm aims to close its $69 billion deal for Activision Blizzard on October 13th.

It's a deal which has had to get over multiple regulatory hurdles.

The Verge said Microsoft will progress with the takeover of the "Call of Duty" maker if it gets approval from Britain's antitrust regulator.

In July the Xbox maker extended the cutoff date for the deal to October 18 to get more time to secure approval from the UK.

The companies did not immediately respond to a Reuters requests for comment.

Microsoft won preliminary approval from British regulators last month.

They were pleased after Activision agreed to sell its streaming rights to Ubisoft Entertainment.

If the deal goes ahead it will see Microsoft take on two of the biggest game title in the world in "Call of Duty" and "World of Warcraft."
