STORY: Rapper and record producer Sean "Diddy" Combs was hit with a new lawsuit alleging sexual abuse on Wednesday.

Former Bad Boy records singer Dawn Richard is suing Combs for sexual assault, battery, sex trafficking and gender discrimination.

Richard filed the suit in New York, and is also suing former Bad Boy CEO Harve Pierre.

The singer met Combs during her 2004 audition for "Making the Band," where she claims he began showing inappropriate behavior.

She was in the girl group Danity Kane and the R&B trio Diddy Dirty Money with Combs and Kalenna Harper.

Richard alleges in the suit that Combs groped her, was physically violent, and threatened her life while trapping her in a car.

The suit also claims she saw Combs abuse his ex-girlfriend, R&B singer Cassandra Ventura, who settled a lawsuit with Combs last year over abuse and rape allegations.

Combs' attorney, Erica Wolff, said in a statement that the rapper is ready to prove Richard's claims are false in court.

Wolff said that, quote, "Dawn Richard has now manufactured a series of false claims all in the hopes of trying to get a pay day — conveniently timed to coincide with her album release and press tour."

Richard's lawsuit came a day after a Michigan inmate won $100 million from Combs for alleged assault nearly 30 years ago.

Derrick Lee Smith won the multimillion-dollar judgment by default on Monday, after Combs failed to appear at the virtual hearing.
