Flag of Turkey Raised in Afrin's City Center After Forces Enter Unchallenged

Turkish-backed members of the Free Syrian Army entered the center of Afrin in northern Syria apparently almost unchallenged on Sunday, March 18, after the two-month Operation Olive Branch to rout Kurdish forces from the city. This video was described as showing the occupation of Afrin by Turkish forces, with a Turkish flag being raised above the Afrin city center building. Other videos and images here, from various Turkish military sources, show different views of events at Afrin’s city center. The Kurdish People’s Protection Units, or YPG, were said to have withdrawn to nearby mountains prior to the incursion by the Turkish-backed rebels, which includes members of Islamic militant groups that have fallen in and out of support by US forces. Operation Olive Branch was said by activists to have killed 280 people in the area, though that number was disputed by the Turkish government. The YPG denied that FSA forces had taken Afrin on Sunday at the time of writing. The confrontation over Afrin pitted forces against each other that were both at various times supported by the United States and its allies. Turkey is also a US ally and a member of NATO.Images of Afrin made an appearance within hours in various propaganda messages comparing its fall to that of Raqqa, the former capital of the Islamic State’s failed caliphate in Syria, saying the “clean” victory in Afrin proved the Turkish military was possibly more civilized than the US coalition, which has been accused of turning much of Raqqa to rubble. What does raising the Turkish flag in a Syrian City mean ? Turkey is only the front for NATO as an occupier of Syrian Lands ...
  • So what
Turks did in two months what America, Russia, Iran, France, England etc. couldn’t do in 7 years.
By the way, did you see how the citizens of afrin welcomed Turkish army. Also take a look at the picture of afrin and rocca. Turks entered afrin and not one building that belonged to citizens were damaged and not one innocent person died from the Turkish incursion. America how ever killed many civilians and the city of Rocca is blown to pieces. Tell me who is the better soldiers?

If PKK were to keep clear of Afrin, Turkish Army would not need to go in. Still, I am glad PKK forces withdrew, or maybe locals forced them, and there was not much more destruction in the city. Now at least some of the refugees can come back.

US had promised to Turkey that they wil not let the YPG/PKK to go to Afrin and Munbij. What happened? US has dishonored his promise and Turkey is now doing its own work by itself. Is it Turkey's or US's fault? US has chosen the way of blaming Turkey to cover its dishonored promises. And it is another dishonored approach from US. And then it is asking if Turkey is an ally of US or not. How can a country like this can rule the world.

The US created the rebels. They encouraged them into violent action and used them try and force a regime change in Syria because President Assad would not bow down to USA pressure over a gas line. IOt has failed and the USA have abandoned the rebels who are now being used by Turkey because they do not want to lose their own troops. What terrible state the world is in.
