Heavy rain and windy conditions were seen across parts of England and Wales on January 21 as Storm Christoph continued to impact parts of the UK, the Met Office reported.
This drone footage from January 21 shows extensive flooding around the Dallam area of Warrington, where multiple residents had to be rescued from their homes.
Leader of Warrington Council Russ Bowden said on Friday afternoon that the town measured water levels 18 inches (450 mm) higher than its previous record, with properties still breached and highways flooded despite the efforts of emergency services, and some residents without power.
Police urged the public not to drive through floodwater due to the high risk.
“You don’t know how deep it is, you don’t know what debris is hidden, if you get stuck you not only put your life in danger, you put the emergency services in danger AND if you could have avoided the danger your insurance may not pay out,” they wrote on Twitter. Credit: Adrian Thompson via Storyful
