Sparks Fly as Van Hits Police Car and Slides Down Texas Highway

Police in Texas said it was lucky no one was injured when a van overturned and slid down a highway in Grand Prairie on November 21, after hitting a patrol car that had stopped to help a stranded motorist.

A Grand Prairie Police sergeant observed a stranded vehicle along I-30 and pulled over to block traffic, police said. The driver had a flat tire and was waiting for a friend to arrive with a spare. A backup officer blocked traffic for the friend’s car when they arrived.

“Moments later, the driver of a van crashed into one of the squad cars and then overturned, causing a chain reaction crash. The man had fallen asleep at the wheel after a long shift. The sergeant rushed to the man’s rescue, helping him break free from his vehicle,” police said. Credit: @GrandPrairiePD via Storyful
