Close-up footage captured by a local zoologist, shows a fiddler crab snacking on insects at a beach in Tainan City, Taiwan, using its claw to place the small creatures into its mouth.

Fiddler crabs are an endemic species of Taiwan, and are known for eating algae, fungus and insects.

This footage was captured by Hung-Chang Liu, a Taiwan-based zoologist, who has spent time studying crabs on the Australian territory of Christmas Island.

Hung-Chang Liu stated that the footage was recorded originally recorded on April 4, 2020, however it was posted to YouTube on March 15 of this year. Credit: Hung-Chang Liu via Storyful
