A group of dogs, a goat and a pig were rescued from an abandoned property surrounded by floodwater in Pacific Junction, Iowa, on March 17.

This video, filmed by Andrew Flair and shared on Twitter, shows rescuers wading through floodwater before entering the property and discovering a number of caged dogs. The excited animals are then freed and carried to safety. What appears to be two goats and a pig are also rescued.

The severe floods that inundated Iowa and Nebraska in March were brought on by heavy rain and snow. Two people died and more were evacuated and rescued in what Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts called “historic flooding and extreme weather.”

“This is the largest widespread amount of flooding we’ve had in the last half century,” he said.

The National Weather Service warned that dangerous flooding would continue in the following days. Credit: Andrew Flair via Storyful
