Beckwourth Complex Grows to Become California's Largest Fire

Aided by high winds and dry conditions, the Beckwourth Complex fire burning in Plumas County, California, grew on July 9 to become the largest currently burning in California.

The complex is made up of the Sugar and Dotta fires, both burning in the Plumas National Forest near the border with Nevada. As of the morning of the morning of July 10, the fire had grown further, to some 54,809 acres, and was eight percent contained, according to officials.
