Possum Clings Onto Tree Branch as It's Swept Along by Sydney Flood

A possum was seen clinging on for its life as it floated along the swollen Nepean River amid severe flooding in western Sydney on March 21.

This footage, by Kristy Miller, shows the animal clinging to a branch as it floats along, before it jumps ship to a partially submerged tree.

Parts of western Sydney were hit by major flooding on Sunday in what was expected to be New South Wales’s worst flooding event since 1961.

Miller wasn’t sure what became of the possum, but said that “an hour later that tree was under water like the rest of the river bank.” Credit: Kristy Miller via Storyful
