China Launches New Long March Rocket

China launched a new carrier rocket into space on December 22, which the China National Space Administration said it expects to become the first reusable model in the Long March series.

The Long March 8 rocket blasted off from Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in Hainan province, carrying five satellites, state media said.

The rocket’s main task is “to place satellites in a sun-synchronous orbit to meet surging demand for launch services from commercial satellite companies at home and abroad,” the CNSA said. Credit: CNSA via Storyful
