Timelapse footage filmed on September 27 captured the northern lights dancing over North Dakota’s Middle Branch Park River.

In this footage shot by Kelsey Byre after midnight, green and purple dance over the calm river.

She previously told Storyful: “When the beams reach high up and there [are] clusters, it feels like our loved ones all dancing above us.”

The National Weather Service (NWS) had forecast that the northern lights would be visible in areas of western and central North Dakota. The NWS tweeted, “Get out and away from light pollution, have a little patience, and you may be rewarded!” Credit: Kelsey Byre via Storyful
