New York's Lady Liberty is getting a little sister

Location: Paris, France

A French museum plans to send a replica to the U.S.

to rekindle the historic friendship between France and the U.S.

(SOUNDBITE) (French) MUSEE DES ARTS ET METIERS DIRECTOR, MARIE LAURE ESTIGNARD, SAYING:

"So you have two sculptures that both symbolize French-American friendship and the liberty of the people. And you see, between 1776 and 1789 (the years of the American and French revolutions), there's a 13-year difference, so we really have a common history on the liberty of the people, the need for liberty, which is very common among the American and French people."

The statue stands at 9.3ft tall

It will be placed in Washington, D.C. on a 10-year loan

France sent the original iconic statue to New York City in 1886
