Swedish cows jump for joy after long winter

Sweden's traditional 'cow release' normally attracts thousands of visitors to dairy farms all over the country every year, but coronavirus restrictions has seen the event move online instead.

The 'cow release' has long been a tradition among farmers in the Nordic region and more and more farms are opening up and hosting events to give city dwellers the chance to see the animals their milk comes from up close.

Dairy company Arla broadcast this year's first event live when farmer Henrik released his 250 dairy cows into his fields after a long, dark winter indoors.

Online viewers saw jumps of bovine joy as the herd left the barn bounding into a green field they haven't seen for months thanks to the cold Swedish winter.
