Hungry Bird Cranes His Neck For Roadside Snack

Rising flood waters in San Diego, California, provided a surprising moment of entertainment when two residents watched a bird catch a fish in section of flooded roadway on April 10, a video shows.

Shannon Toner and her boyfriend were on a walk around her neighborhood when they came across Great Blue Heron. Toner pulled out her phone to record what happened next.

“I started to video and the bird went into the street and pulled out a fish. We were absolutely shocked,” Toner told Storyful.

The video footage shows the bird pluck a fish right out of the flood water, before walking away and out of frame.

The National Weather Service said a few lingering showers could be expected in the mountains surrounding San Diego, but based on their reports, the heavy rainfall should be over with. Credit: Shannon Toner via Storyful
