Wildlife officials in Fort Myers, Florida, came to the rescue of a woman who discovered a seven-foot alligator in her garage on February 28.

Footage by Torrie Heathcoat shows the spirited gator being removed from the garage by officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

According to a Facebook post from Heathcoat, the family had left the garage door open for around 10 minutes, and this was enough time for the gator to get inside.

“I called 911 and they dispatched a lovely and calm policewoman who stayed at the garage door until Fish and Wildlife arrived,” she said.

According to Heathcoat, the unwanted reptile guest was relocated to an alligator farm in North Fort Meyers.

“Florida friends, it is mating season and gators roam … Keep your garage door closed,” Heathcoat warned. Credit: Torrie Heathcoat via Storyful
