'Oh Golly': Octopus Launches Itself at Western Australian Beachgoer

An octopus lashed out at a beachgoer in Dunsborough, Western Australia on March 18.

Lance Karlson, who shot this footage, told Storyful he spotted the octopus attacking a seagull and brought his daughter forward to have a closer look. The video captures the marine creature lunging at Karlson as he approaches.

“Oh golly,” he exclaims.

Karlson told Storyful he believed he experienced another octopus attack later while swimming by himself. He said the second attack left red marks on his neck. Credit: Lance Karlson via Storyful
