STORY: The contest sees banger car drivers accelerating over a ramp in an attempt to fly over a line of assembled old cars and land safely on the opposite side.

Several managed to take off and land safely with most of their car intact, but some fell from the sky and crashed into the line of wrecks to the delight of the crowd.

Each attempt was judged on elevation, the reception from the crowd, and of course distance.

The drivers took to their cars in order to test their mettle and try to ‘out do’ each other.

While they win little prize money, winner Kevin Lording driving Sonic Boom Boy earned some serious bragging rights, as well as a trophy.

"Know how to floor it, just floor it. Don't bottle it, just floor it," Lording said.
