Dolphin Trapped in Fishing Net Saved by Italian Coast Guard

A young bottlenose dolphin was saved by members of the Italian coast guard on Sunday, May 1, after becoming entangled in a fishing net near the eastern town of Porto Recanati, the coast guard said.

The Guardia Costiera said sailors had spotted the dolphin in “obvious difficulty” about 400 meters from the coast of Porto Recanati, a town south of Ancona in Italy’s central Marche region, and alerted authorities.
