On Thursday, National Guard troops helped hand out non-perishable supplies to residents at an outdoor drive-or-walk-up station in New Rochelle.

In an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered a containment zone in Westchester County in a one-mile zone around Young Israel of New Rochelle synagogue that took effect on Thursday, local media reported. Reports said the synagogue was the epicenter of coronavirus spread in New York, and the place of origin for 108 cases.

Residents were told they were free to visit area businesses but to avoid congregating in large groups, reports said.
