NASA's SpaceX Crew-6 leaves ISS, prepares for return

STORY: Just days earlier, on August 27, Crew-7—comprising of NASA astronaut Jasmin Moghbeli, ESA astronaut Andreas Mogensen, JAXA astronaut Satoshi Furukawa, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Konstantin Borisov—had taken up residence in the space station. Their arrival was marked by a triumphant launch on August 26 from Florida's Kennedy Space Center.

Meanwhile, the outgoing Crew-6 members—NASA astronauts Stephen Bowen and Woody Hoburg, UAE astronaut Sultan Alneyadi, and Roscosmos cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev—were in the midst of wrapping up their responsibilities. This included the conclusion of scientific experiments and the delicate task of transferring return cargo to their Dragon spacecraft.

As the date fast approaches, NASA and SpaceX have set their sights on the Crew-6's undocking from the space station, scheduled to be followed by a splashdown off Florida's coastline on Sunday, September 3.
