Jenni Hermoso celebrated in Mexico after kiss scandal

STORY: Before the match between Pachuca and Pumas UNAM, players from both clubs formed a hallway and applauded as Hermoso entered the field.

Hermoso came out donning her medal and club officials gave her a framed number 10 jersey with the words “World Champion” on it.

A gigantic banner of Hermoso lifting the World Cup was unveiled at the stadium.

Spanish Football Federation chief Luis Rubiales' kiss of player Jenni Hermoso after the World Cup win in Sydney on August 20 had caused outrage among players, government officials and many in wider Spanish society and raised questions over sexism in sport.

Earlier on Sunday, Rubiales announced his resignation as Spanish Football president.
