"If they (Israel) have the power to target one person, why do they want to kill off all those innocent people (in Gaza)? Recently they've been targeting specific people. They knew what they want. But they are a terrorist country who are only killing hundreds of kids, of women, just under the name of protecting themselves."

"We are very sad and we are here just to say to the Lebanon people, we are we are with you, we're standing with you, and you have the right to defend your country. You have the right to defend your lands. And it's for Lebanese only, just for Lebanese. You go out."

The Israeli military said on Saturday it had eliminated Nasrallah in the strike on the group's central command headquarters in Beirut's southern suburbs on Friday (September 27). Hezbollah confirmed he had been killed, without saying how.

Hezbollah and Israel have been fighting a conflict in parallel with Israel's war against Palestinian group Hamas in Gaza since Hamas' attack on southern Israel last Oct. 7, a conflict that has sharply escalated in recent days.

Nasrallah's death is by far the most significant blow in a devastating fortnight for Hezbollah, starting with a deadly attack on thousands of wireless communications devices used by its members.
