Motorists Navigate Flooded Shanghai Streets

Heavy rainfall and strong winds from Typhoon Lekima left at least 32 dead and over a million people evacuated according to Chinese state media on August 10.

The storm made landfall in China’s Zhejiang province around 1.45 am on Saturday, the China Meteorological Administration said. The typhoon packed winds over 116 mph that downed trees, caused power outages, and damaged buildings, reports said.

More than 1,000 flights scheduled to depart from Shanghai Pudong International Airport were canceled on Saturday due to the severe weather, local media reported.
